CHIA BIO / REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

IN PRECLINICAL DEVELOPMENT

A full head of hair.Still out of reach
for millions.

Chia Bio is working to change that.

Limited donor hair can make transplantation unsuitable.

Illustrative portraits

For many people with advanced hair loss or diffuse thinning, today’s treatments fall short of the coverage they want. We’re developing a new source of hair follicles from their own cells.

01 / THE OPPORTUNITY

Hair restoration has
a supply problem.

A transplant can move hair.
Our goal is to make more.

Hair transplantation relies on a finite supply of donor follicles. For people with advanced loss or diffuse thinning, that supply can limit what’s possible.

We’re working toward a different starting point: new follicles grown from a patient’s own cells, designed for use in the transplant workflow surgeons already know.

03 / THE SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION

New growth begins
with new biology.

Our approach builds on published research showing that human pluripotent stem cells can form hair-bearing skin organoids: small, three-dimensional tissues that develop features of human skin.

These studies demonstrated hair follicle formation in the lab and hair-bearing grafts in mouse models. We’re working to translate that foundation into a patient-derived approach to hair restoration.

Preclinical today. Human proof of concept ahead.

Human safety and efficacy have not yet been established. Chia Bio’s technology is not available as a treatment.

04 / OUR VISION

Regenerative medicine.
Starting with hair.

The potential of cell replacement.
The personal meaning of hair.

We believe hair restoration can become an important application of regenerative medicine: one that brings together stem cell science, manufacturing, and an established clinical workflow.

Our ambition is to expand access to new follicles and, over time, help make patient-derived cell replacement more scalable.

A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS

A clearer picture.

How is this different from a hair transplant?

A conventional transplant redistributes existing follicles from a donor area. Chia Bio is developing a way to grow new follicles from a patient’s own cells, with the aim of supplying them for implantation.

What does “patient-derived” mean?

It means the starting cells come from the person who would ultimately receive the follicles. This is also called an autologous approach.

Is Chia Bio offering treatment or enrolling patients?

No. Our technology is in preclinical development and is not available as a treatment. Human safety and efficacy remain to be established. We are not accepting treatment bookings or patient enrollment through this website.
